Who is Artur Pawlowski?

Artur Pawlowski is a Polish-Canadian street preacher and political activist known for leading the Cave of Adullam congregation in Calgary and formerly serving as the leader of Kings Glory Fellowship.

He founded Street Church Ministries to preach in public and engage in Christian outreach, providing food and clothing for the poor. In 2022, he was appointed leader of the Independence Party of Alberta.

However, the Canadian government revoked Street Church Ministries’ nonprofit status as a religious organization in 2010 because of their involvement in “non-partisan political activities.”

The court released the fines paid by Pawlowski – Why was he arrested?

A controversial Canadian pastor, Artur Pawlowski, has been involved in multiple legal issues in the past few years. In December 2020, he was fined for not wearing a mask.

His arrest followed this in February 2021 for organizing and attending an illegal in-person gathering.

Pawlowski was arrested again later for disobeying a court order and failing to wear a mask. In October 2021, he was sentenced to 18 months probation and a fine of $23,000.

In a subsequent incident, Pawlowski was arrested again for encouraging protesters to withdraw from an agreement with the RCMP to leave the area.

This resulted in charges of mischief over $5,000 and interrupting the operation. He is on trial for these charges, with his first trial in February 2023.

On 25 March, after Artur Pawlowski’s lawyers submitted a release plan to the court, Justice Gaylene Kendall overturned the ruling of Justice Adam Germaine Olsen and granted release conditions.

Pawlowski was ordered to pay a $25,000 cash deposit, put under curfew, and prohibited from attending protests.

The court also required sureties from Pawlowski’s wife and son. Despite the ruling, Pawlowski remained in custody until a bail hearing on previous charges and was released on 30 March.

Later in July 2022, the Alberta Court of Appeal recognized procedural issues surrounding how the public health order was applied and acknowledged that the fines Pawlowski had already paid were sufficient punishments for ignoring public health orders. As a result, the court returned some of the penalties that Pawlowski had paid.

Pawlowski’s wife, Marzena, has fully supported him throughout these legal battles.
