In Haikyuu, Shoyo Hinata is a Junior high school student who becomes obsessed with Volleyball after catching a glimpse of Karasuno High School playing in Nationals on TV. He gets inspired by a player Karasuno, known as 'The Little Giant'. Hinata is an athlete and has an impressive vertical jump, so he joins his school's volleyball club to learn how to play Volleyball. After the time skip, Hinata goes to Brazil to learn beach volleyball and joins the pro league playing for the Black Jackals a couple of years later. Hinata also plays with other popular characters such as Atsuma, Bokuto, and Sakusa.

After the time skip, Kenma and Kuroo are no longer playing Volleyball together. Similarly, Bokuto and Akaashi are not seen playing the game together. Bokuto continues his volleyball career, while Akaashi chooses a different path.
