Mahabharata is one of the greatest epics of India. If you read or watched Mahabharata, you might know Ashwathama, the son of Guru Drona and the grandson of the sage Bharadwaja. Ashwathama, the great warrior, ruled the northern region of Panchala, being subordinate to the rulers of Hastinapur. In the bloodiest Kurukshetra War, he fought on the Kaurava side against the Pandavas. Is Ashwathama Still Alive?

According to Mahabharata, Yes. Ashwathama has to be alive. Some people in north India tell many happenings that Ashwatthama is still alive and seen in different forms. But, all these are just beliefs and assumptions. Ashwathama is a mythological character in the world-famous epic Mahabharata. Many people told numerous random stories about Ashwathama. Some say that they have seen Ashwathama in the foothills of the Himalayas. Whether these stories are true or not, most people seem to believe that Ashwatthama is still very much alive.

Ashwathama Death

Ashwathama will not die. In Mahabharata, Ashwatthama entered Pandavas' camp at night and killed 5 sons of Draupadi in their sleep along with Dhrishtadyumna. Ashwatthama aimed the Brahmastra to kill an unborn child in Uttara's womb, not knowing how to retrieve the brahmastra. Krishna revived the stillborn baby, and Ashwathama was made to give up the gemstone in the middle of his forehead. Due to his immortality, Ashwatthama was cursed by Lord Krishna to live forever till the end of time with the gaping wound on his forehead. According to the Mahabharata, Ashwatthama must be suffering right now.

Where Is Ashwathama Now?

Because of Ashwatthama's action, Lord Krishna cursed him. According to the curse, Ashwatthama carries the burden of everyone's sins on his shoulders and will travel alone without earning love and respect until the end of the yuga. The warrior will be isolated from human life and suffer wounds that cannot be healed. So, this was the curse given by Lord Krishna to Ashwatthama. Some say that they have seen Ashwathama in the foothills of the Himalayas. However, these are just stories.

Ashwathama Height

The height of Ashwatthama is unknown. According to quora, it is said that he is 12 to 15 feet tall. But, the exact height of Ashwatthama is not mentioned. Ashwatthama is the son of Kripi and Drona. He was born in a cave in a forest. Drona does many years of penance to please Lord Shiva to get a son who has the same valiance as Lord Shiva. Ashwatthama is a Chiranjivi. Chiranjivi are people who remain in the world till the end of Kali Yuga.
